With Spring right around the corner, luxury furniture retailer, Grange, recently introduced their colorful and refreshing 2013 collection featuring collaborations with interior designers Kathryn M. Ireland and Steve McKenzie. We were happy to attend this event in NYC where we met both designers and had a preview of their latest furniture and textile creations.
Kathryn M. Ireland, recently named by Elle Decor as an A-List designer and known to many for her appearance on Bravo TV's Million Dollar Decorators, stayed true to her comfortable, elegant and family friendly style. Her Tapisserie collection for Grange has a colorful and bohemian sense, which seemed fitting of her own energetic and down to earth personality.
One of our favorite vignettes in the Grange showroom showed Kathryn's more traditional design with floral textiles, including wallpaper. Her layering of colors and patterns embraced her British and European background. We loved the scaled down size of the furniture. A favorite piece was the colorful nesting tables.
Steve McKenzie brought a sense of modern history to his Grange designs. Also an accomplished artist, Steve's featured artwork were abstract pieces with 19th Century Euorpean documents embedded within a linen panel.
Friendly and engaging, Steve took the time to explain that having lived in the midwest for many years he's inspired by the 1960's architecture in Columbus, Indiana. His seating collection for Grange, aptly entitled, The Columbus Collection, embraces clean lines but still has a classical feel. Our favorite piece was the Mary Bench. Impeccably upholstered we could see it fabulously positioned on a 1960's movie set.

Embracing their festive Spring theme, the Grange showroom was transformed with herbs, plants and flowers everywhere. The Grange team even spent several "crafternoons" creating cocktail napkins made from Kathryn and Steve's textile collections...a super brilliant idea to personalize any event.
Congrats Kathryn and Steve. And thank you, Grange!

Why does the lighting in furniture stores always look like a soap opera tv set?
Thank you for the very kind words. It was a real honor to launch with Kathryn M Ireland and have Grange represent the line.
Great review! Liked it so much we dropped a little link love in a recent post about Steve McKenzie's on The Life & Style Guild.
