That quote, from Kai Yeo of The Bureau, nicely sums up this latest project called the Moe Chair. The Moe Chair is the old-style school chair that used to be found in every Singaporean classroom, a visual touchstone for anyone who has been through the local school system here. The Bureau's 6-piece version on this chair is homage to the old yet has created something entirely new and still very functional. In fact, no sooner had the chairs been designed when new Skyve Elementary Bistro and Bar at Winstedt Road picked them up to use in their new space.
Be sure to check out the rest of The Bureau's collection of work.

Commercial Flour Sa...
The look like my old grade school chairs.
Ouchie but good for keeping kids awake.
We had the tall ones in science lab.
I was thinking the same thing as the first two posters:
Congratulations. You "designed" something that we've had in our classrooms for 50 years.
What has been stated above was just what I was going to post. My immediate impression looking at it was a walk down memory lane. For me that was Millikan High School many decades ago. The chair is a little different, but not all that much.
Well they did state what it was a touchstone of. I wonder if China's old classroom model may have been a little different than those in the USA? we never had chairs which were rockers or had high backs.
Looks like 6th grade shop class project
Mind if I write about this on my blog at www.oakfurnituresale.co.uk?
No commercial value at all.
