It's been raining cats and dogs for the past day over much of the eastern part of the country. All that rain and gloomy clouds have turned my white walls into an interesting shade of gray that I'm actually loving. While of course I miss the sunshine filling my home — I could get used to all this gray indoors.
Gray walls create an ambiance unlike any other color. It provides a cool and calm atmosphere no matter what room it goes in. I particularly love it in bedrooms — it ensures relaxation!
While you might not immediately think gray would be the best choice in the home office, it actually works really well in a place where you need to focus. If you're after the dark, dramatic yet romantic look — gray is your guy. Accessorize the room to play up the dark attributes or go with the opposite; totally bright and white.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Grey is a really good neutral. We have plain white walls with lots of artwork so when it comes to curtains, accessories, etc. we really need neutral colors to tone it all down.
I've be totally obsessed with grey lately. It's on every wall in my apartment, yet my apartment feels light, bright and airy :) Love.
Grays are usually tinted, usually blue or yellow, or warm and cold. That first image could be considered blue where the light hits it, but in the shadow it's more monotone grey. The tint of the gray is something to consider when choosing paint and room mood. When the tint is heavy you want to consider direct daylight, light bulbs, and shadows. In the morning you might have a beautiful cheery gray room, but when night falls and that gray gets warm it might get gloomy or romantic or for certain emo people, gloomy is romantic. Good article and collection.
I'm doing a light gray just like the second photo right now throughout most of the house. We pulled up the carpet and are living on the concrete till we can buy some floors. I love that gray goes with almost ANY wood floor color and style. But of course this also leaves me with way too many choices! Decisions.... :) Great pics!
Gray is one of my favorite go to colors to lay the foundation for great balance. I recently repainted my bedroom with a darker shade of gray and added some bold stripes to add some energy to the cozy space. Check out a pic here!: http://rootsverdes.tumblr.com/Projects
Tell me about that loosely woven blanket. Where'd you get it?
That looks like a crocheted afghan and pillows, and I would LOVE the pattern!
bodice_goddess and I are in the process of convincing our mom to go grey in her bedroom. This article might just help make it happen!
I can hardly keep myself from drooling on my keyboard over the first picture. I think the pillows and bed spread are just plain old garter stitch knitting with a super bulk yarn. If you follow the link there is another picture of so many layers of delicious knit texture my head may implode with delight.
as for the blankets and patterns, her name is inekke, and it would be hard to find, but you could start here.
