The artist and designer Roy McMakin designed an offbeat home for Steve Jensen on Vashon Island — a short ferry ride from Seattle. The house is oriented to take full advantage of winter sun and minimize the summer sun. It features additional quirks like dutch doors and windows set in a pattern that isn't altered, even if the staircase interrupts the window.
