Ok, so it's not Park Avenue, but it is the cutest top-floor Nolita duplex that a bachelorette could desire. And what better way to amp up the chic quotient than with a few hand-painted stripes?

This is one of those projects where we were handed a tear-sheet and asked, "Can you make me this?" The base coat was Benjamin Moore Tundra, and the room seemed to want a four-inch repeat. After testing Pigeon Gray as the stripe (too Waspy/nautical) we settled on Dior Gray, which feels elegant and timeless, and with which you can't go wrong. This is a rental, and part of our problem solving was to make the stairs and wall-to-wall carpet go away. I think also that we were "colorful" without detracting from the colors of the furniture and reclaimed wood.

I like it! I'm such a sucker for grays and patterns. Any source for that throw?
As a migrane sufferer, I couldn't live with those stripes and chevrons, but I like the effect as a design for others (it's too close to the aura visual disturbamces I get with the headaches). May I suggest, though, taking an idea from the Baltimore porch post and adding some persimmon orange accents, in the form of a pillow, blanket, or the wonderful orange lamps Crate and Barrel carries?
The C&B lamps: Boka persimmon table lamp for $219.
I have some Dior Gray in my home and I LOVE IT. It is a beautiful gray color.
Love that throw! Where is it from?
Fluff the couch next time you take a pic. I am pathetic enough that I can't get past that to see the wall.
Also I believe "Spinster" is the correct term for a female bachelor.
