Ugh. Is it the holidays already? Christmas creep always seems to get sooner and sooner every year, and next thing you know we'll see Santa in a parade right after July Fourth. But on the flip side, this year is particularly special because there are lots of great apps for your iOS device to make getting through the holidays easier. Everything from getting your shopping done in time to making that perfect meal, all available on the App Store. Want to see what they are? Well let's get going!
Amazon Santa: It seems like Amazon has everything nowadays, and this app for the iPad makes maneuvering their site that much easier. Admittedly, I couldn't find everything through the app, but when I looked for some of the items I needed to buy this year — Legos for the kiddos, headphones for the wife, etc — I had no problems at all.
Toys R Us: Put your kid in front of your iPad and let them have some fun with this app. They can create their own list, find all the toys they want and then you can see what they picked using your special Parent's View mode.
Allrecipes.com Dinner Spinner: Although this is a year-round app, it also has tons of handy recipes for the culinary specialist in your home. Just pick out what kind of meal it is, what type of item you have to use and how long you have to cook and you're good to go.
Photogram: Taking pictures with your iPhone is a lot of fun, but what if you could then deliver those photos from the holidays to your friends via your favorite social network and in style? That's the goal with Photogram, and sure, the holiday packs cost a touch of money, but chalk that up to holiday spending.
Cards: Apple's own app does a fantastic job of taking your photos and turning them into custom letterpress cards. Just take the photo, do some editing on the fly and send it out. It costs a few bucks to send the physical card, but it's still cheaper than a trip to the Hallmark store.
