Exposed cords on ceiling fixtures can look cool if they're old and fabric-wrapped. But what if you're dealing with chains on a "brushed stainless" fixture from the Lowe's sale shelf?
Wrapped in twine for the shades and rope for the chain, this chandelier was completely transformed by Kara Paslay Designs. We love that it started out as suburban vanilla and ended up as rustic French countryside. Head on over to Kara Paslay Designs to read more about the project (including its unbelievably low price tag) and see more photos!

Any ideas on how to make this sophisticated rather than rustic? Love it for the country, shabby-chic look, though.
Paperkite,
If it would fit maybe the hose from a shower head? It might look more industrious.

Something like that maybe?
What about getting it coated in black rubber? A black chain sounds like it could be made to look sophisticated, to me. Or wrapping it with wide satin ribbon? Or sewing a sleeve of fabric for it -- perhaps (p)leather? Or even weaving leather through the chain, "chanel handbag strap" style... :)
Wrap it in twine and put a bird (or two) on it!
That's uncanny, I did this not even a week ago in my living room..
I like it, but I agree with elfjeansonne- I like the industrious look!
Strangely enough, I've been going back and forth between both the rope wrapping and the showerhead hose for my own chandelier cord. However, I feel like either one will likely end up looking too bulky/crafty for the purpose. This problem doesn't seem like it should be that hard to solve, but in reality, finding a simple, unobtrusive chandelier cord cover seems practically impossible.
Is that a plumbing pipe pot rack I see in the background?! Ooooooh!
And then put a bird on it!
elfjeansonne and lodschmod, thanks for the ideas!
