Sadly, we've yet to visit Chicago's Botanical Gardens in the 10 years we've lived here. But kicking our fun to-do list into high gear for the summer, visiting the gardens comes out on top. We just learned that it has been chosen by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) as the sole North American host for upcoming World Environment Day 2008:
At the Garden and at venues around the world, events will highlight resources and initiatives that promote low carbon economies and lifestyles, such as improved energy efficiency, alternative energy sources, forest conservation, and eco-friendly consumption.
