Oh please. This is sprawl, plain and simple. I don't care how green the builders purport the development to be—if you have to drive to get anything done and there aren't any nearby amenities (like groceries, shopping), then it's sprawl, and sprawl ≠ green. It doesn't matter if the houses are outfitted with Energy Star appliances and the yard has a good irrigation system; can you imagine how much of a waste it is to pump electricity and water to the middle of nowhere? That cancels out the whole environmentally friendly aspect of the project.
