Green Christmas Trees in SF and Portland

We can't believe it was a whole year ago that we blogged the Green Christmas Tree Program run by Friends of the Urban Forest and SF Environment. This year the program is back by popular demand. Check out their website for more information about how to rent a living, potted tree (you can order online or pick it out in person). They'll not only deliver it to you, they'll also pick it up after Christmas and re-plant it. All for $90. Details are here. Click below the jump to read about how to rent a green tree in Portland, and also what to do if you don't live in San Francisco or Portland. Portland's The Original Living Christmas Tree Company is celebrating its 16th year. Their rental price is $75 -- or $65 if you pick up and return the tree yourself -- and their trees look more like traditional Christmas trees. If you're not in either San Francisco or Portland, check out TOLCTC's website. There's information about how to buy a living Christmas tree just about anywhere else and then donate it to a local parks department or other entity that would like a free tree.
