Green Escape Inspiration: Two Green Girls on the Road

When we think about green escapes, meandering road trips across the country don't usually come to mind. Road trips can be magical, but the thought of burning all that gas is tragic.

However, we don't mind living vicariously through someone else's "green-ish" road trip.

That's why we've just started following Two Green Girls on the Road, a blog written by Mary Logan, a staffer at National Geographic's Green Guide.

Mary is using the blog to chronicle a green trip across country. She and her cousin are trying to keep the trip as green as possible, by couch surfing, eating organic, seeing the green sights, and spending only $25 a day.

They left Atlanta on July 20th and were eating pizza in Berkeley yesterday. They hopped around San Francisco on public transportation, and ate lots of locally-sourced food. They head home today -- but we imagine there are plenty of great stops still to come. We wish we could hitch a ride.

Keep up with their progress here.
