If you're in the area this weekend, be sure to check out Austin's second-annual Maker Faire. This event, which is also held in the Bay Area annually, celebrates the DIY culture. It focuses on sustainability and craftiness, and promises to be a non-stop whirlwind family adventure! Jump below for more details.
The thing we're most looking forward to? Edible Austin's food pavilion. They will be offering advice on growing and making your own food. There's even a huge community square foot garden project that will go on.
Ok, we'll admit: we are also really excited about the life-sized version of the game Mousetrap! Seriously, how cool is that? And better yet, there will be a "bike zoo," with rideable bikes made to look like animals (from recycled materials, of course).
It's all about celebrating craftiness, creativity, and sustainability. Maker Faire Austin tickets will be available at the Travis County Expo Center, unless you've scored them in advance.
More information is available at the Maker Faire site. If you're nearby, be sure to stop by and experience some of Austin's best qualities all in one place!
