Sometimes the easiest way to cut down on power usage is by visual feedback – real-time information displaying your household electric consumption. The BLUEline PowerCost Monitor and Energy Meter does just that by wirelessly transmitting your electrical usage from your electric meter to a portable LCD display. The BLUEline PowerCost Monitor LCD screen displays current and total electricity usage in dollars and cents and kilowatt-hours. The energy meter is really easy to install and use – just clamp the wireless sensor to your energy meter and place the portable the battery powered LDC receiver anywhere in the house within 100 feet of the sensor. The receiver can be programmed for various electric rates depending on your electric provider for accurate readings.
The theory is that by monitoring your energy use, you can easily understand how much energy you're using and how much it’s costing. You can literally turn off and on lights and see the energy usage reflected immediately on the display.
The $110 price tag seems a bit steep for an energy monitor, but for some households it could help aid a lifestyle change to make it worth the upfront cost.
