At each place setting was a small jar of local honey. The bride tied a raffia ribbon around each one. It was such a great way to pay homage to her hometown, give back to a local business, and best of all, we went home with something sweet!
It would also make a great housewarming or hostess gift!

Honey can be really unique for different areas, for example I have some Hawaiian honey from a flower that only grows on one island there. And since it last nearly indefinitely and needs no refrigeration, guests can easily travel with it and store it. TSA does consider it a liquid though for air travel.
I like that most small time producers use canning jars which are nicely reusable for taking my lunch to work (soup, pasta, cut fruit etc).
Plus, anecdotally, local raw honey has benefits for reducing allergies by boosting immune response to local pollens.
Heck yeah, I love honey! And we also gave it as our wedding favors last year.
