Or, how you can be green and save green

The beauty of a flat screen is apparent at first glance: the slim profile is a minimalist’s TV dream.
With the proliferation of big screens and HDTV, TVs are becoming power hogs: by themselves, they average 10% of power usage in residential settings. With peripherals like DVD players, Tivos and the like, that jumps to an average of 15% of the total bill.
Not looking for the largest TV on the market, or perhaps a smaller set for the bedroom? If you’re looking for a middle ground that will help both your pocketbook and the environment, LCD HDTVs under 40” are the way to go.
[Note: Plasma TVs take more energy to power than comparable LCD TVs; the caveat on this is that it’s up to 40” that LCD TVs use less power.]
Save more green—while being greener—over the lifespan of the TV.
