This photo is at the holiday party at work- all businesses are trying to Green now and it's on everyone's mind- how can we 'green' and still stay ahead economically? Also- the dress I'm wearing is hand made and was bought at the farmers market in New Orleans.

Name: Jane
Location: Astoria, Queens
Profession: Hotel Sales

Green Move #1: the new carbon filter compost pail is affordable and you can keep matter for composting for a week without it smelling up your kitchen. If you live in queens, like me, it's not easy to get to a compost and my apartment is small and will get smelly fast...

Green Move #1:

I also recommend getting a sticker from your local area with recycling rules and dates on it and sticking it on the garbage recepticle that you'll be using.... this way, when friends come over, they won't mix it up... and you won't start using it as a trash bag either.

I pretty much live at work... the top photo is at the holiday party at work- all businesses are trying to Green now and it's on everyone's mind- how can we 'green' and still stay ahead economically? Also- the dress I'm wearing is hand made and was bought at the farmers market in New Orleans.

Green Move #2:

I am working to help Green the Essex House hotel in NYC on Central Park South. It's very difficult to Green old buildings with old systems of doing things.

Biggest Challenge/Frustration:

I have allergies to my pet and my pet has allergies to my cleaning supplies. She gets asthma when I clean! I need to stop using so many chemicals to clean. I'd also like to wash her with Ylang Ylang rather than using chemicals to keep her rid of ticks.

Inspiration:

Turtle Inn is one of the most beautiful Eco Resorts that I've ever seen. It's Francis Ford Coppola's... in Belize. //www.blancaneaux.com/.

I'm not sure if this is an inspiration or a frustration: the great debate of buy local vs. buy organic.

anyone?

I've attached photos of a BBQ where we cooked local bison sold at the farmers market in Union square. It felt good to support the local farmer and not buy from a vendor that was selling food that had used gas to be flown across the world to me!
