Summer heat and toxic paint fumes don't mix. We've got a few painting projects we're hoping to do this summer though, so we've been looking into zero VOC (volatile organic compounds) paints. Safecoat Paints seem like the leader in the industry. If you're starting a nursery from scratch and really want to go green, don't forget about non-toxic paint!

Safecoat paints have no solvents, heavy metals, chemical residuals, formaldehyde or other harmful preservatives. They received the Scientific Certification Systems' Indoor Advantage Gold certification. So you can breathe easy with these paints.

Plus, there are over 30 products to choose from, from sealers, to primers, to stainers. And...if you're looking for color, they've got over 900 colors in their Ambiance Collection. But while you're surfing around their site, check out the Aryuveda Essence Collection. A palatte of 108 colors correspond to the three major constitutional types of East Indian medicine: vata, pitta, and kapha. This is based on the idea that color will affect different people differently. Not sure how to tell what colors baby would enjoy, but it's kind of funky and fun to play around with. Check out their "Healing Combinations" here.
