In 2010, the color was purple - ranging from pinkish brights to deep plums, there was no mistaking the trend. In 2009, I saw a shift toward deep and dark autumnal tones - dark pumpkins, golds and reds. This year the color that I'm seeing everywhere at the show is green, green, green. And it looks good!
It wasn't a big surprise - Aaron and I saw enough green at Maison et Objet earlier this year to know it is a hot upcoming color for everything home related. That said, it seems particularly well suited for cooking and houskeeping goods — great looking when combined with white and in shiny finishes; it feels fresh, clean and just right for adding a spark of health and life to your food prep and cleaning routines.
Ten examples are shown above with many, many more tones and intensities of green on in the booths at McCormick place this week. Green seems here to stay - look for it filling the shelves of homegoods stores as these new items (or, in some cases, simply newly hued items) start rolling out this Spring, Summer and Fall.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Green has always been a fav colour of mine. You know how you are just drawn to things sometimes? Well its like that for me with green. Love all the pretty cooking ware. So lovely!
@WallFlowerPower, amen sista! I was thinking the same thing. While I realized this was a post on the color green I was hoping that there would have been some kind of eco tie-in. But you are absolutely correct, one of the greenest things we can all do is keeping using the items we have.
I have also purchased more dish rags, towels, napkins and handkerchiefs in an attempt to cut down on my unnecessary use of paper products.
I hear ya, WallFlowerPower, but maybe this is good for first time homemakers.
i like green. there isn't enough of it in the world. but i dislike the green = eco marketing movement. there's too much of that in the world.
harvest gold and avocado green?
say it ain't so!
I wish there was more mint/jadeite green to go with my vintage kitchen. It's incredibly difficult to find!
@cobalt blue - LOL! My thoughts exactly. I do find I'm using WAY more green these days than I ever thought I would, having endured a godawful childhood of almost nothing BUT avocado. But I guess I like greens with a bit less yellow and/or more depth (Ralph Lauren's "Palm Frond" paint, for example - SOOOO yummy!). And @fade on violet, yes I love that mint/jadeite you speak of. For me, that will never go out of style.
P.S. I do like the kMix toaster color - a LOT!
