Useful green resource alert!
While researching some information for a different post, we accidentally happened upon Co-op America's National Green Pages.
It is, as the name suggests, essentially a yellow pages-type directory of green businesses.
With about 3,000 businesses listed, the directory isn't exhaustive; still, we find it exceptionally attractive because Co-op America has a screening committee that "investigates each applying company to determine its familiarity with and commitment to social and environmental responsibility, and looks for significant evidence of this commitment in the practices and policies of the company."
If a company doesn't pass muster, you won't find its name in the directory.
Online, you can search for green businesses by category (e.g. Baby Products, Carpets/Rugs, Lighting/Lamps) or by region, and you can narrow your search by clicking your home state.
We're in the market for some pet care items and easily pinned down a variety of green, online pet care retailers to choose from.
It's a helpful service that takes a lot of the guesswork out of finding green businesses and products.
If you happen to own a green business, get yourself listed!
