To help usher in Spring (read: beg for an end to this relentless winter), I am going green--as in the color green. Our living room (Image 13, above) was painted green when we moved in 6 years ago. I probably would never have been brave enough to choose the color myself so I am forever grateful to the previous owners. I get compliments on the paint color all the time.
My only regret is that I can't claim responsibility! Turns out that some shades of green can serve as exquisite neutrals; bold enough to catch your attention but subtle and versatile enough to serve as a backdrop to a whole spectrum of other color combinations and styles. Green can be warm or whimsical; traditional or contemporary; subtle or dramatic. But whatever it is, it is the color of Spring, a short-lived but pined-for season here in Washington, DC.
Here are a selection of fabulously envy-worthy green rooms.

Green is my favorite color, so I love these photos. Catrin, your living room is amazing. I remember loving your house tour. In fact, I think I'll click through it again!
ah! what is the paint in the first room??? benjamin moore? farrow and ball?
Green is my favorite color! We painted our master bedroom green as soon as we closed on our house and I LOVE it!
That lamp in the last photo! I just bought the exact same lamp last weekend at an antique shop. Can anyone identify it?
My whole house is painted in soft, whispery shades of green and I love it! My Master bedroom in my old house was a darker green...oh, what a place to nest:)
Did you know that psychologically speaking, green is perceived as calm and reassuring? It is a "feel good" color. No wonder so many of us love it!
The decorating gods must have heard my prayers! This is exactly what I was looking for! I'm painting my kitchen in a month and yearn to do it in green! Catrin, you rock! #7 has given me the Valspar color inspiration that I need :)
I feel like the top one might be Sugar Bag Light from Farrow and Ball but it may be discontinued.
I think the second, very cool green could be great in my dining room / home office. Anyone have an idea what the color is, who makes it?
Wow, I am madly in love with the octopus! And #1 is dreamy.
13th picture...i'd love that paint color for my 3 year daughter. It says Benjamin moore 509 Aquavelvet....i googled it but not much showed up. Anyone has any idea what color that might be?
I have Donald Kaufman Color DKC-65, which is a very dark loden-like color. It is hard to classify because it is a full spectrum paint: when the sun shines on it, it is a gorgeous almost forest green; while at night, more brown comes through. It may not sound it, but it is stunningly beautiful.
We also have Martha Stewart's Clay in our house, which is a very modern greyish-green (very similar to picture 13).
Suffice it to say, I love green! (and all my life, my mother taught me to hate green)
That first image (top left) is from Bellinter House in Ireland. I'd spot it a mile off.

I'm planning on painting my bedroom pale chartreuse, so this is a great reference. It looks like everyone has white trim.
I really want green rooms now.
Also room five, I could never carry it off, but how magical and astonishing is that?
I love the grayed quality of the first three rooms. Delicious paint choices.
And I am usually not feeling modern (especially for AT!) but I could live quite happily in room 10.
Green green green green green.
Ours is a grey/smoke green - perfectly cool & perfectly warm & crisp & cosy.
green green green...
PS - can I move into these?
