The owners of this dark-attic-turned-sunny bathroom feature a mix of eco-friendly upgrades, including a recycled chalkboard-slate floor, recycled-glass wall tiles, a beadboard ceiling of sustainably harvested cedar, a dual-flush toilet, EPA-compliant showerhead and faucets, and drainwater heat recovery. All materials, finishes, and adhesives were chosen based on their effect on indoor air quality, and the owners used wet-blown cellulose insulation instead of fiberglass and and a nontoxic clear finish on bathroom surfaces. Even the towel bars are resourceful: they're made from 100% recycled aluminum.
