I'm very much a minimalist, but even I think this room could use a nice soft rug, a plant and a bit of color somewhere. I'd absolutely lose the huge whiteboard with the "To Do" list on it (regardless of what that "To Do" was). Nice, but a bit bland.

This is just phase 1 of our bedroom makeover. On our blog (linked from the article) we go through some "necessities" for the bedroom - being sheepskin rug, swiss military blanket and a few others :)

The board is also a must and very practical for us being new small business owners.

I really like the floor, and it seems like it could be a surprisingly economical option compared to actual hardwood flooring.

Nice. You got somewhere interesting seemingly without new structure. I like exposed plywood idea.

I like plywood for wallboard material. I think superior to sheet rock as a material except for ease of cutting and sinking screws first shot. Takes smoothing compounds well. Harder to do curves.

In our previous home, my husband installed plywood floors over concrete, after putting down a subfloor. He ordered a nice maple & they really looked amazing- warm & comforting. He then used plywood for building a closet & it took paint very nicely. For flooring, we did get some dings & had to be very careful when moving furniture around (especially the piano- it left ridges in the floor). We liked the rougher look as we had huge exposed brick wall, exposed duct work, and concrete floors in 1/3 of the loft. The floors were left in 4'x8' sheets. Wow, I miss that space!

Wouldn't you get splinters from unfinished wood?

The wood was pre-finished when we bought it with "1 good side" and we sanded them down to get rid of any roughness. It was then finished with a clear wood sealant from a local hardware store. The brand name escapes me at the moment.
