This super cool industrial-looking chandelier was a DIY, if you can believe it. The designer of the lamp, Lindsey Adelman, sells an original version for quite a heft penny, but she posts DIY instructions to make your own version on her website. So that's just what the owner of the lamp above (of the blog The Brick House) did!

Probably wouldn't look too good w/ CFLs in it would it?
I'm so sick of this "green style" stuff. There is nothing green about using incandescent bulbs. Nothing is green or environmentally friendly about them. The stuff posted here just looks modern. Why don't you make a "modern" blog and drop all the green stuff?
Why yes---I can believe it was DIY. Clever, but not my style.
This is actually my house and my project, and yeah there is nothing green about this lamp.
It would have been cool if some one emailed me and asked - I would have told them.
The old vintage danish lamp I had here before was probably greener...
The spirit behind picking this lamp as a Green Style was due to its DIY nature. And yes, while this version uses incandescents, we don't see any reason why another version of the DIY couldn't incorporate CFLS or LEDs if the maker was up to it and could find an appropriate substitute.
I guess the point is that the whole "green style" is such a rip off. Everything costs thousands and thousands of dollars more, and isn't really any greener than anything else.
The style looks great, but it sure ain't green. It's funny to live like a hobo to save $10 worth of water per month, and then spend $5000 on a lamp.
