In celebration of Earth Day, Anthropologie has decked out their store windows for the month of April with a whole lot of cork, which we know is an amazing eco-friendly resource. Once the displays are broken down the corks will go to Cork ReHarvest to become fishing bobs, brand-new flooring, and paper pulp.

White Enamel Flatwa...
simply amazing
I want this job, haha. Anyone know how they go about doing this? I know they bring in local artists etc but beyond that...
Deer person: for the round ones, buy a styrofoam sphere from a craft store, glue gun them on. For the colored ones, I would guess that they just dipped them in dyes/watercolors or inks. It would be really simple, actually. And they could be hung outside.
The one's at Anthro (the one near me at least) are actually made of a spherical wooden cross-frame (bad description, I know), covered in chicken wire, and then cork (and plant, plastic, and various other things) hot glued on. The green parts just look like permanent marker on the ends of the cork.
That being said, I'm replicating it at home like Peggasus said, with a styrofoam sphere and foam glue. It's a little heavier than ideal, but quick and easy to start with.
We at Greenward gave their Cranston, RI store a giant Santa Claus-sized bag of corks that customers turned in for recycling. It's good to see them get another use before going to Cork ReHarvest.
I know of an artist on etsy that does similiar work. You can check it out HERE!
Any idea what kind of dyes they used? I've been drooling over these window displays all over the city!
