I never thought about having hanging plants to stay out of the way of pets! We have an indoor rabbit who can jump up to tables and shelves, so we just quit having indoor plants. Hanging is definitely an option.
i don't know why when i think about hanging plants i always think outside. they're beautiful indoors, too! (and the pet thing is a bonus, since we have 4 dogs!)
