Our friend recently moved, and the old question of what to get for a housewarming gift came up. We decided that only she knew exactly what kind of stuff belonged in her new apartment. Her style is unique, taste impeccable, and after moving, she really didn't want to be acquiring a whole lot more.
But one of the most difficult aspects of moving into a new place is cleaning it up, especially if the folks before you did a bad job, had pets, or there was a lot of lag time (ie. enough time for dust bunnies to grow) in between residents. Even if it seemed clean enough upon arrival, there really is a good feeling that comes with scrubbing down your new place so that it feels ready for you to live in it.
Our gift idea: an assortment of Mrs. Meyers cleaning supplies (we chose lavender). Not only are the products all natural, but they smell great and look great, too. And at above-average prices for cleaning supplies in general, it's a thoughtful gift for someone that can't always go the greener (which sometimes means pricier) route.
