Thanks to Jonathan's tip, most of us now know that we can clean cast iron pots with kosher salt. Did you know that if you add half a lemon to that mix you can also clean and shine your copper pots?
Now, we don't own any copper pots -- but we just happened upon this little how-to over at Natural Home magazine, and we'll take their word for it.
All you need to do is dip the cut half of a lemon in a dish of kosher salt, get an 1/8 inch of crust on the lemon, then scrub away at your copper pots in a circular motion -- adding more salt as needed.

wow . just in time . . . i just moved and have to clean all my pots and pans from storage!
I just use Barkeeper's Friend. It's pretty cheap, and you do not need much to do the job.

I suppose it (the Barkeeper's Friend) is not very green, but if you do not generally use lemons, it is an alternative.
That's really cool. I remember my mother used to do that all the time to clean her copper pots. I also know where you can get some more copper pots if you want: http://www.buycoppercookware.com
