03_16_09_sxsw.jpgSouth By Southwest is one of Austin's most well-known events. The film, music, and interactive festival brings in tens of thousands of people from around the globe--and if you're on your way into our beautiful city, which embraces green ideals, here are a few resources to help you experience in a very green way! Read on for links to travel tips, eateries, and even a hint for leaving a lasting eco-friendly impression behind.

Check out the sustainability page at SXSW's site--it's full of tips from lodging (hopefully you'll have taken care of that detail already!), travel while you're around Austin (check out the Park & Ride options, or rent a bicycle to get around town), and food options. There are lots of places in and around Austin that offer local, organic, and fair-trade food and goods, so be sure to explore your options. For tips on eateries around town, check out Austin360.

And don't miss the opportunity to have a hand in beautifying the Balcones Canyonland Preserve. You can have a tree planted by visiting the Silverlight Interactive lounge at the Austin Convention Center.
