Once again, Green Toys is spinning gold from Rapunzel's hair with their recycled milk jug toys. I made sure to stop and get the scoop at the Toy Fair booth earlier this week and see if they had anything new. And, boy, did they…
Instead of just one or two new products, Green Toys had an array of new, smart and fun offerings:
Photo 1: The biggest news was Green Eats - a whole line of kid-sized tableware. Their cooking and tea sets have been such hits but parents kept asking for dishes their kids could actually eat off of. And here they are: trays, plates, bowls, tumblers, forks and spoons.
Photos 2 & 3: The new Green Toys in the garage are a flatbed truck and small racecars, fit for small hands.
Photo 4: I didn't even try hiding my glee when I saw that Green Toys play food was now on the menu: hamburgers and sandwiches. Unlike other plastic play food that stacks up nicely until you try to "bite" it (and then flings all over the place), these food pieces each have a raised middle to help them stay in place once that towering sandwich has been assembled.
Photo 5: I had so much fun chatting with the Green Toys folks that I neglected to photograph a few items including: an infant twist teether, a single pot planting kit (hello - perfect kid birthday present), and stacking cups which can also be used in the bathtub ("Each cup is numbered on the bottom from 1 to 6 and is volumetrically accurate. Fill cups 1 and 2, for example, and it will equal the volume of cup 3.")
Look for these new Green Toys in the next few months!

Shaw's Original Fir...
I still don't like plastic toys.
I have been looking for a nice divided plate and tray. Love their stuff.
I live in San Francisco and am proud to support a local company with environmentally sound products. I probably get more enjoyment out of their wares than my child does. Great packaging, muted colors, sturdy play dishes.
I wish they would make a tea set that's not pink & girly! I actually emailed them about this a couple of months ago. They sent me a very nice response, the gist of which was "we've considered it...". It makes so much more sense to make play kitchen pieces that are gender neutral. I don't know why they'd only do a pink/lavender option for the tea set. That said, we really like their trucks!
Love, love, love this company and their products. My only complaint is that our dog also loves these products!
@vdp, if you are looking for a gender neutral tea set, we bought a wooden one from Plan Toys. My son loves it and is always making us cups of tea.
My daughter LOVES their tea set. Also, I think it's one of the least girly out there- there is pink and purple, but also blue, yellow, and green. And no hearts, flowers, or Hello Kitty. Plan Toys are fabulous, but kids can use the plastic set with water and real snacks, which is fun.
I wanted to buy one of their trucks for my son, but read lots of reviews from people complaining that the wheels don't roll on hardwood floors. Have people found this to be the case? Do kids care?
I bought the green toys tea set for my niece and she loves it. Made in the USA too.
But I prefer wood and we have the wooden tea set from Plan Toys. Also terrific and I love the smooth quality of the wood. Both are food safe and most tea sets are not.
I think *I*need one of those divided plates though. Supposed to be great for dieters.
My son loves his Green Toys play dishes which he picked out and uses a lot when he "cooks" us yummy meals of octopus, eggs and stegosaurus.
