Our days of dorm living are far behind us -- and we remember them fondly. But not because we were being great stewards of the environment ... Maybe we saved some water in those awful, zero-water-pressure showers? However, other than that, there was nothing green about that time.
We envy the students that will one day have the opportunity to live in Stanford's Green Dorm. We've been reading about it and it's almost enough to make us want to go back to school.
And, when it does, we predict that students will be lining up to score one of its 47 beds. The place will have a roof deck supporting all sorts of green experiments and technology (green roof, solar, etc.), an information center where students and visitors can learn about the building and see how it's performing, low-flow showerheads, and plenty of other sustainable solutions developed by students -- that's because the plans for the dorm are coming from Stanford's green design courses.
Here's a brief piece from Wired about the project.
Can't wait to see the final product.
