Greener Gadgets Design Competition Winners

Greener Gadgets Design Competition Winners

Feb 4, 2008

As promised, here are the winners of the Green Gadgets 2008 Conference, held this past Friday in New York City. The design competition was sponsored by Inhabitat and Core77.

The top prize went to EnerJar, a DIY Power Meter Design. Check out more on the 1st place winner, as well as the 2nd, 3rd, and special 4th place prize after the jump.

It appears that the winner is a "homemade" energy meter that can monitor all of the energy used by the gadgets discussed at the conference. Below is the 2nd place winner, the Gravia Floor Lamp. We're not entirely sure how it will look while in use, but it's our vote for the most intriguing winner. We'll follow this one and see what we can learn about it.

Third place is the Green Cell, a rechargable, vendable battery pack. The big issue we see with this is getting designers and manufacturers to get on board with one battery type--but trust us, if they can get them on board, we'll be on board with this!

Seems they weren't planning on a 4th place but couldn't help themselves, and awarded 4th place to Roll On, which we think is a portable charger, but we can't exactly tell from the pictures for certain.

Reported over on Core77, where we also found the images.
