Welcome to Ana who sent in photos of her garden from Madison. Ana is a first time gardener whose garden began as part of her graduate work...

"It all started with the petunias; I grew them from seed for a small greenhouse study as part of my graduate work. When the study was finished, we needed to get rid of the flowers, and I took three of the best specimens home. After transplanting them and setting them out on the deck, I realized that the flowers needed companions."

The whole story and more pictures are below the jump. Check it all out before casting your vote...

"Since then I've been getting more and more plants, and the deck is looking lovelier every week. My friend and neighbor Clayton has been providing both inspiration and guidance for this project, since this is my first gardening experience and he's been gardening for years."

"My favorite source of plants is the Dane County Farmers' Market, as well as some local nurseries; the Home Depot cannot be beat for simple (and cheap!) terracota pots."

Thanks for the chance to share this with you,

Ana
