Right off the street. Greenlight Concepts uses the glass lenses from discarded traffic lights to make home lighting fixtures...
We like the pendant, in the amber "yellow light" glass shown above. Where Greenlight has really succeeded: you look at their fixtures and first think "nice design". Then you look closer and see that they're made of recycled parts. Prices range from $120 to $275.

oh, STOP, i YEILD to their design sense, so GO buy a new light fixture.
Repeat...Is the writers strike hitting AT? This was a SLINK from www.inhabitat.com back on Aug 3rd
Why aren't these being recycled as...oh I don't know...TRAFFIC LIGHTS? And what happens to the rest of it after they take the colored part out? Seems like more of a gimmick than anything.
I've been in love with those textures since my Mr. Roger's days. Now older and past the "I need to include a traffic light in my new bar," I'm all about that pendant! How chic!
I know this is old but I came across it doing a search. Just wanted to add that the glass lenses are being replaced by plastic LED lights, and are just otherwise going to landfill. This company is upcycling the glass lenses and turning them into light fixtures...not tearing down traffic lights to steal the lenses and dumping the rest of the traffic light! That is just ricoculous, rexrayfan! LOL
