Tsao & McKown Architects won a National Design Award today for interior design. The New York based firm has a hefty portfolio and I was impressed with this Greenwich Village townhome renovation...
Would you have ever guessed that this design was done in 1986?!? There are a few giveaway details when you know what to look for — color scheme, lighting fixture in entryway, coffee table sculpture — but overall this design has held up very well!

This Townhouse renovation seems a bit cool and uninviting to me.
the blue red color scheme is hot today. isn't this part of the dwell color palette?
All those straight hard chairs look a little uncomfortable to me...
Like the couches. I wonder if there's anything similar -- also if they have storage underneath.
Really? This is way to 90's for my taste. I do not like.
oh god no.
I'm relieved to see it's from '86 because it was screaming early 80s design to me - really not timeless at all. Though, the kitchen and dining room could hold up.
I love the marble in the kitchen.
Oh look...it's Serge's house from Beverly Hills Cop.
I think it's held up quite well, and I love the lamp on the desk in the main shot.
It appears the chairs in the second photo are no longer on speaking terms. How sad when friends have a falling out.
