In our suburban childhood, our mother designated Saturday's as grocery day. We knew there was a period of time each Saturday when we would go out together and purchase the groceries. It was never hurried or rushed, as it was time that she had built into the week's schedule...

Now, as adults, we pick up grocieries more spontaneously as we need them - a luxury of urban life. But we still designate weekly time for some household tasks, which makes each one a pleasure instead of a drag. Saturday mornings are floors and sinks, because we're always eager to start the weekend off as clean as can be. Sunday afternoons we settle our bills, as we try to keep Saturdays computer-free. Any weekly housekeeping rituals with anyone else out there? And what determined when they occur?
