Comments and conjecture are welcome in the comments, as always, but if you know the source of the photo - PLEASE don't tell. We promise to reveal it tomorrow, so please check back then for the answer.

That Hunter Green makes me think early to mid 50's (1953).
I'm torn between late 1960s and early 1970s. I think I'll go with early 1970s, for no particular reason.
I too am torn between 1960s and 70s, though I will go with 70s due to the white shag rug. There's something about shag rug that just screams 70s to me.
Yeah, same here--late 60s or early 70s...
Looks a bit like my parents' living room ca. 1964, so I'll guess 60's.
I love everything about this room except for that shag rug. Just looking at them makes me itch.
I was also torn between 60s and 70s, but picked 70s because of the shag.
I also have to go with the 70s based on the shag rug. I also see some bring painted white which is making me lean towards this decade as well...
Yes, shag rug = 70s!
shag-a-delic... so 60's... asian prints on the walls to match my asian inspired cat-eye liner, white indoor brick of the old 50's bungalo to echo the earlier decade and contrast it to this 'transformed' room... op-art bold shapes and simple colors of the table-top art... groovy..
I'll guess early '70s, before burnt orange and olive green laid waste to the interior landscape.
The seating makes me think 50s, but the shag rag makes me think 70s. I opted for the 50s. The photograph has that look to it that pictures from that era have.
Shag rug says 70's. I'm guessing the owners hadn't got around to buying new furniture yet.
OMG. i actually saw some of those seating pieces for sale at the rose bowl... and having just guessed 70's, I have to amend it to 60's... something about the fabric told me that clearly I now remember
The blue/green combo started to become popular in the late 60's and that type of seating as well with the tight boxy upholstery.
What is throwing me off are the accessories they could be now. The glass tea kettle does not look vintage and shag rugs are still some what popular. The pendent is not really avocado green and it could be now.
I am going with the 70's as my guess.
I'm with rosenatti about the color scheme. Ha ha ha!
Looks like my parents living room before my brother was born in 75. Shortly after he was born the burnt orange/cream/olive green scheme came along. I say 70-72.
The seating looks like the 60s to me.
I say 60ies for there is no electronic. No stereo. No phone. No TV.
I'm going for now. With all the retro MCM stuff posted here, I could totally envision this in a future house tour.
Not that I would like it :)
As I understand it, the flokati rug appeared in US design in the 1970s, not the 60s, so I vote 70s.
I'm guessing 70s--somewhere between the tail end of MCM and the beginning of 80s preppy (note the plaid).
That style is SOOOOOOO 60's it hurts. Also, it looks like it was a black and white photo that was hand tinted. 1960's!
Something about the pendant light says early 80s to me...
I immediately thought 60s--the furniture is absolutely 60s--but now you people have me thinking...... The shag rug could be 70s..... Then again, the shag rug could be 2010. That little white lamp could be IKEA; the little green bottles could be present day West Elm. What about the contemporary lime green box on the side table? The white crate planter could be a recent (2010) purchase as well. This photo could have been taken within the last 5 years for all I know! Hmmmm. Well, I guess I'll find out tomorrow if I'm cut out to be a decorating detective.
P.S. The fact that there are no electronics in sight means nothing. No telephone? Cordless, in another room. No stereo? Tiny ipod dock. No TV? Hanging on the white brick fireplace wall, perhaps? Curiouser and curiouser.....
bepsf: Where are you?
Has someone already asked?
per Andreas I: "I say 60ies for there is no electronic. No stereo. No phone. No TV."
As someone who was a child in the '60s, I can assure you, Andreas, that we had -- how you say -- the electronic, the stereo, the television and even those new-fangled telephone things.
I want to say 60's, but am thinking more 50's due to the Green Plaid.
That heinous shag carpet says '70s to me. Jeebus. A rug only a designer, or someone with servants, could love. You had to have a special rake to keep the stupid pile from flattening out.
The plant-holder-thing made me guess the 70's
My first reaction was 60's, but, like everyone else, I'm unsure of that answer because of the shag rug.
