We've always got an eye out for good potential "Guess the Decade" photos and this one really fit the bill - lots of detail to look over and a very distinctive style. But was it enough of a challenge?
...the huge majority (115) of readers who played along got it absolutely right - it is "now". 41 readers guessed the 70s. The 60s and 90s are tied with 18 votes each. 12 readers chose the 80s, 7 said the 40s and 3 went with the 50s.
We chose this room for the game because it had elements from so many eras - we could see it somewhat believably being from nearly any of the decades in our survey. But, perhaps that is what made it clearly "now" for so many of you - it's a bit of a decor retrospective!
The room was done for a 2005 Decorator Showhouse in San Francisco by Jay Jeffers. The wallpaper is from Studio Printworks and many vintage items are used, including a desk by Vladimir Kagan. More shots and details can be found right here at the Jeffers Design Group site.

Thanks to everyone for playing along!

MORE GUESS THE DECADE:

Ercol Bar Stool
This one was easy!
Total interior desecration. Might be the ultimate solution for a teen room: no need to try ANY drug to hallucinate.
I stand by my vote: this pattern screams seventies wanna-be.
A lot of times, the quality of the image reproduction is a dead give away to what decade the magazine picture is taken from. You should put some kind of photoshop mask on the current room photos to make it less obvious!
I really enojyed everone's reasong for guessing modern in yesterday's post.
I thought the room had to be modern because stacking what appears to be color-coordinated "wrapped gifts" as though they're part of the everyday decor seemed very contemporary :)
Another by Russel Brand's decorator? But why?
;p
Seems like the 90's trying to pull off something older.
One of the reasons that made me guess now instead of the 1970's is that there is no phone in the room!
No, No, No, No. A Thousand Times "No."
two easy, this one. looking forward for the next one. the image "screen" might be a good idea.
It hurts my eyes.
