Guest Rooms with Personality

Like any spare room, a guest bedroom runs the risk of becoming a dumping ground for things that haven't found their place. Or, if you look at the issue from a different angle, guest bedrooms can be showrooms for unique and personal objects. The key is to make it all work together. The rooms above all have one stand-out element that helps to unify a collection of eclectic objects. In Photo #1, it's a folding screen that doubles as a headboard. In Photo #6, it's a striking paint color.

There's also a very personal sense of style that runs through these rooms. Because guest rooms are usually small and serve a limited use, they offer the chance to experiment with your decor. If you're working on your own guest room, consider a paint color that you've been hesitant to try or add some bedding that diverges a little from your usual tastes. Whatever your style, don't be afraid to mix it up.
