It was my great delight to be involved in the 2011 Hamptons Showhouse, to benefit Southhampton Hospital. My work was in the foyer with Haus Interior, and I was charged with creating 25 panels of a chevron pattern in paint, to complement a glamorous version of a 1970's surf-lodge theme.
The foyer was two stories high, which at first seemed daunting but now I’m glad for the challenge, as I think we brought a bland space down to earth and into intimacy, and gave it character. Colors here are a palette of midnight blue and seashore-grays.
As you see, a flame stitch pattern was our motif, tempered with gentle driftwood, seashells and diaphanous works of art, and miraculously this also matched the work of those around us. As to the rest of the house, trend-spotters will continue to find pattern on pattern, “lacquered” walls, papered ceilings, painted wainscot, moss-green and orange, and the dramatic gesture. Stylists will enjoy what my acting teacher called “triplets and clumps;” or rock on paper on book on tchotchka on cushion on chair. I don’t know how they make it look so easy.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Love image 8 and 10. Even the staircase is awesome, but later that flame stitch pattern just feels like overkill. Image 4 just makes me want to twitch.
Love the foyer-- the rest of the house seems over-designed to me.
Large Ceramic Vase above the bed in image 9 look like an accident waiting to happen
Jack Russell wallpaper?!!! Yes, please!
not speaking to me at all.
moderation seems key. nice peach stripes, though.
I'm with bkbrownstone. Way too designer-ish for me. To each his/her own.
I don't see any of this as 'designer-ish'. this all seems to be whatever thrown
in with this and that to come up with what was described earlier as headache inducing.
This is bad all over.
Thanks for liking picture #8. That was done by my company Mendelson Group and if you like us please check out our newly launched website www.mendelsongroupinc.com!
