We wandered over to our Home Cure Flickr Pool and were met with this pretty little ray of sunshine... we mean trivet. This handmade piece is the perfect way to start off a Friday morning and you can can make one too — see how after the jump!
Curee member Kathrynivy has a great space and has made this simply lovely, felted trivet. It keeps the space feeling bright and cheery without making a big commitment to any specific color choice or permanent fixture to a wall or floor. Over at Flickr she shared the pattern and other assorted details so you can make your own.
Never tried felting? It's super easy, just head to your local craft store and look for a set of felting needles, some wool and go to town! There's just something cathartic about repeatedly stabbing something.

Wouldn't work in my place - I am imagining cat fur stuck all over those felt balls after one day.
Felting is great fun, yse!
(Like Richelle though, I can't with my cats... with mine it's the opposite, the felt would be stuck all over the cats, after they ripped the enticing balls to shreds...)
LOL Fraise! Didn't think of it that way but you're right!
Dorky.
I love felting! I felted sugar skulls I strung along my shower curtain. It's so much fun and quite easy.
And why exactly couldn't the vase just sit on the wood countertop?
Because it's holding down the felted balls so the cats don't eat them. Duh.
I love those. I read how to do it but it didn't sound so easy. I would need a tutorial. Maybe I will check on Youtube.
