The crazier and more complicated the world seems to get, the more I'm drawn to objects that have a rustic simplicity and add a feeling of peace to my home. Ceramics artist Michele Quan creates handmade bells and garlands that have an obvious spirituality, but also a modern sense of play.

The ceramic bells and balls are combined with hand-dyed fabric, wool, and hemp rope and decorated with patterns or loose sketches. The Brooklyn-based artist sells her work at several local shops and also offers select pieces online through her website, mquan.com.
