- This precious little fox from Sara Carr, Monty, is knit to order with soft lambswool. He is so irresistibly sleepy and sweet that you may end up keeping him for yourself.
- This is Leon, an antelope from Finkelstein's. Like the rest of Finkelstein's toys, he is one of a kind and mostly handstitched. His asymmetry is endearing, and his slight pout will tug at the heartstrings of your little animal lover.
- Who says all pirates are boys? Gabe is a rockin' pirate gal, handstitched with love from warmsugar. Her skull and crossbones scarf and her wooden leg hint at what is sure to be an adventurous spirit. Any little captain would love to add her to the crew.
- Billy is a crocheted bear from Pfang with a surprising but endearing accessory: a pear. With his bright colors and quirky hankering for fruit, who can resist this sweet face?
- This bright-eyed owl pillow from karensagez is made to order of eco felt and playful cotton fabrics. You can even mix fabrics for a custom owl, a great way to match this bedtime friend to the lucky kid who will be cuddling with it.

Commercial Flour Sa...
These are great! Also LOVE Hen & Chick - I bought a robot for my son.

Great finds. I also really love this one from Woodland Tale: http://www.etsy.com/listing/115203813/sleepy-fox-softie-eco-toy-mr-fox-plushie?ref=usr_faveitems
The pirate girl makes me think of the They Might Be Giants song, "Pirate Girls Nine." Serious earworm, that one.
Oh! And also check newly-launched US president dolls! I'm partial to the Thomas Jefferson doll.. :) http://www.etsy.com/shop/lategreats
If you want something truly unique, skip the mass-produced stuff and order something custom. I ordered a "plushie" for my sister's birthday that was based on a paper-mache monster she had made as a child. I had pictures of it, and I sent those pictures to Rebecca at Le Petite Arbre (http://lepetitearbre.blogspot.com/) and she fashioned a pretty good reproduction of it for a pretty reasonable price. She can also do plushies based on kids' drawings and other inspirations.
I highly recommend her.
These are great. I'm with Weatherman about skipping the mass produced stuff. Unless kids are soaking up commercials, chances are they won't miss the plasticrap and will cherish these awesome toys!
I have 3 year old boy with zero interest in stuffed animals. He never liked them at all. I, on the other hand, flipping love them. I have such a hard time not buying them. These are all awesome and there are so many more awesome ones out there. My baby is only getting a couple of presents, but his "big" one is Mr. X by blabla. I love it and can't wait to give it to him. He's only 5 months, but so far he likes stuffies!
Not from Etsy but made by a family-run German company: Sigikid Beasts in Town
These are of high quality (comparable to Steiff) but their characters are very unusual. Beasts in Town are meant for adults rather than for kids (I guess) :-)
(No, I don't get paid by Sigikid. Unfortunately.)
These are great! I especially like the fox--very unique. Years ago I was introduced to Domo kun, a similarly unusual stuffed toy. I have since become somewhat obsessed with him. Many Domo plushies can be found at (http://www.domokunstore.com/domo-plush). They are not hand-made, but equally unique!
I recommend http://www.kreepydollfactory.com/ if you're into some un-ordinary items!
Thanks so much for the cudos. I loved making a likeness of "Alice" and other unique toys. It is fun to make something different every time. I love to see a large positive response to hand made toys.
Rebecca
I love Monty, its very beautiful!
And the bear Billy, its awesome.
I see some similar Plush dolls here.
Thanks for share!
