There's no easier DIY than making a handprint. So that got us wondering: what do you think of handprints as decor in a child's room?
We've all seen the traditional ceramic handprint kits, but there are plenty of more unusual techniques for all DIY abilities. Using handprints can be highly personal; have everyone in the family use a hand to paint a border around a wall, or use only your child's hands in his or her room (see photo 2, above). Another easy idea is to use handprints to decorate the mat around a photo or to create canvases to hang on the wall (see photos 4 and 5).
If you want to up your DIY ante, then try something a little more elaborate, like embroidered handprints or a handprint pillow (photos 1 and 3, above).
So, what's the verdict? Are handprints as decor a go? Or no?

White Enamel Flatwa...
My neighbors have a white mailbox with bright-colored family handprints all over it. Cute.
A Year ago we painted five square canvases in different colours, lined one hand per person on them and filled them with another colour. Then everybody painted some personal symbol on the "palm" of his hand, e.g. a lightning flash, a heart etc. Then we hung them in a vertical row. Now we've got a pretty personal "piece of family art" and every day I love to look at it.
That's funny to see this. We did this on our living room wall. Got our kids to each paint a picture and then do their handprint in a 2 seperate frames. And then blocked them off into a square. Better than any art I could find b/c to us it has more meaning.
