As much as we love clustered artwork, it can be really refreshing to see a wall with just one painting. Wandering the halls at Art Chicago this weekend, we noticed that most galleries used salon-style hanging to get the most bang for their booth dollars. When we spotted one small Donald Judd construction hanging in its own space, we were really drawn to it. (Sorry, we couldn't get a photo.) It was a simple, minimal statement that stood out among so much art...The piece was Donald Judd's Woodblock 23R, a bright orange construction that we noticed partly because of its bold color and the way it was hung low on the wall. We'd really love to see it in a space like the one above, where its simplicity would relate to the furniture around it. We might try a similar setup (minus the original Donald Judd) in our own humble home.
