When I first started the design process I was having trouble choosing the ultimate direction of the nursery. Even though I'm not one for themes per se, my initial moodboard was a little all over the place: Beach theme? Safari animals? Bohemian? I wanted it all!
Overall, my biggest source of design inspiration was my natural surroundings here in South Florida. This was confirmed the more I sought out inspiration for our nursery. We chose beach print to hang over the crib that is full of the most beautiful turquoise and aqua colors. While I love white walls, this photograph really brings in that pop of color that his room needs. We designed a surfboard that can be used as wall art now and as his first board when he is ready to become a little surfer dude later on. I think there is really something special about buying the first board he will use during his birth year, even if it won't be used for years to come. It might just be the ultimate accessory for a South Florida, beach-themed nursery!
The colors of the ocean, a surfboard, crabs and other tropical fish served as my overall inspiration for a beach-themed nursery. But because I can't completely commit to one theme, I added the amazing giant stuffed giraffe to tower over the corner of our little man's room, and for some bohemian flair, some Moroccan poufs (another great way to add color). The crib, lucite shelving and a simple lacquered dresser served as the modern elements of the room.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Really nice job :)
I want those elephant bookends
Love! I wish it wouldn't get overrun with all kids of toys once he's older - that's the "problem" we had with our baby rooms. They start out amazingly white and pastel-y, and then, boom! - Fisher Price takes over! We went with it and moved to primary, strong covers when the kids got a little older.
It's hard not to be inspired by the beautiful surroundings of South Florida! I love the direction that you took with this room- the touches of turquoise really highlight the water elements of this beach theme. I'm curious about the rug...where did you get it? What is it made of?
Where did you find the beach photograph?? It's gorgeous!
