Color Inspiration: When creating our daughter's room all we knew was that we didn't want the usual pinkish, bubble gum stuff in it. We wanted colors that accentuated the brightness of the room but at the same time were calming and comfortable...
Color Inspiration continued: We found this amazing checked lilac-green wallpaper in a store and we instantly fell in love with it, so it became both the color inspiration and the focal point of Hanna's room. We tried to build the colors around this item so we only have lilac, green and some beige elements in it. The walls are neutral off-whites because we felt it would be too much if we used lilac in the whole room. The most difficult thing was to find accessories in similar tones so that it didn't become too brigh and harsh. That's why I did a lot of DIY, I made the lilac and beige cushions from sweaters bought in second-hand shops because I didn't find the lilac that would match the wall and the butterfly decals. I created some of the artwork on the wall using the same beige-lilac pattern. The other art pieces are from my favorite Etsy shop Belle and Boo. The furniture is from IKEA because they were neutral enough to complement the color scheme. I only painted the table and the chairs with custom-blend furniture paint by Tikkurila. I think it turned out to be a really great, girly room which she can enjoy for many years to come.
Tip for Using Color: The most important thing I learned from this process, is don't overdo a color. Try to stick to two or three and use different shades instead. It will give a more sophisticated result.
Colors Used: Lilac, green and neutral beige to soften the look.
Thanks for your colorful entry Orsolya and good luck!
