This looks like it would feel great on a frosty morning.

Unfortunately, a wood stove is far from green or healthy, considering the pollution it generates. Please see the NYT article "The love affair with the fireplace cools". Energy is a complicated issue, but many of the same toxic chemicals that are in diesel and tobacco smoke are in wood smoke, and the negative health effects of wood smoke are well established (just Google "wood smoke" and "health effects").

This reminds me of the way Alton Brown is always creating his own kitchen gadgets. My favorite was when he made a smoker out of two ceramic planters. Cool idea!
