Q: My daughter loves music and instruments these days. For her second birthday, I'd like to get her a drum similar to this one. I'd love some suggestions on where to find some.

i remember making these as a kid with a large coffee-can (cut with a no sharp edge can opener) and wax paper I think. I believed we used a rubber band to secure it but a zip tie might be better.
My kids have one from amazon.com

They love it.

I recommend either that Plan Toy or the First Act snare drum instead. I don't think the one pictured would make enough noise to qualify as a drum!
or maybe this is what you're looking for?! ;)
The Plan Toys drum linked above is fabulous, but it's not all that loud. That would be a plus in my household too! Also, it does need the mallet, while the one pictured above could probably be played with the hands...
We have some of the kid's drums from Remo, and they're great. You can play them with your hands or the mallet or a stray maraca or whatever.
Our biggest drum, the floor tom, is currently on "supervised use only" status after I caught the 3 year old monkey using it as a stepstool to get to the forbidden toaster. It's quite sturdy!
Overall, though, I think tambourines are probably the favorite rhythm instrument @ our house. We have them in graduated sizes, and when you stack them all up and beat on the top one with a mallet - well, that's good noisemaking.
GOOD LUCK Kevin and Christina!!
Yes! Dobbin and Drum make them just like these www.dobbinanddrumtoys.com
They make a lovely mellow sound too
I just ordered this one for my daughter who will be 2 in January.
