We spied this idea on Burnham Design's website: a daughter's bedroom done up in white and a light blue with the smallest touches of lipstick red. But what really caught our attention was the "headboard": instead of using an actual headboard, blue racing stripes are painted in place...and travels across the ceiling to the other side of the room. What do you think?

I love it.
The idea is kind of cool...but I'm not real enthused about this particular room.
Awesome!
I have this picture saved on my computer. I love the blue chair..... I have found a few of that style, but so expensive :(
A DAUGHTER'S BEDROOM!!!!!!!
that's the size of my entire apartment. geez.
Have to do it!!! I suspect it will make my narrow 290 sq foot 10 foot room look wider eventhough I have 11 foot high ceilings, I need to make the room look wider
love it! makes the low ceilings somehow more bearable.
this room is beautiful.
not a fan of the stripes... but I LOVE that chair!
I think it's really cool. I want that gorgeous chair! I love how the stripes give the room an edge to counteract the feminine tufted chair and chandelier. I think it's a beautiful example of blending styles.
ange_lune, i'm with you!
that room just looks so comfy & beautiful...love it!
it must've been difficult taping on the ceiling... good work
I love love love that chaise. Anyone know where it's from?
This is one little girl who obviously does not have allergies.
I love this...what a great idea, what a fabulous room
The chaise is from Brocade. There is some question lately if Brocade is going out of business - because the chaise was 1/2 off. Recently their website was not accessible.
ugh ... i want that chaise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cool room, and the chaise is rather reminiscent of the Mad Men headboard!
Um - That bed does have a headboard...
...it's the MALM bed from IKEA.
You just can't see the headboard in this photo since the thick mattress is up on a boxspring, the low headboard is behind the big pillows and the photo cuts off the side view of the headboard on the right.
I like the curtains. Where can I find an inexpensive version of these plentiful curtains and how much will it cost me?!
Love that idea, of the stripes
What I want to know is where to find a curtain rod that long. I've only seen max 180" in stores. Anyone? Or is there an easy extender to work with?
Re: Curtain Rod
The rod pictured in that photo is probably less than 160" - for more length, you'd have to go custom.
Re: Curtains
What do you consider inexpensive? How much effort do you want to put into it? Sewing curtains isn't that difficult - it's just a bunch of straight seams and you don't need elaborate pleats...
epodz -- You can get a custom curtain rod cut for you at any Home Depot-type hardware store. A wooden pole is best if you have a really wide window. (Trust me, I opted for metal and it started to sag after a year or so.) You'll need to put a support bracket in the middle (as the picture above has). But it's not expensive or difficult to get custom curtain rods.
bepsf- I can't believe you're the only person who said what I was thinking in terms of the malm having a headboard.
Gorgeous!
It's a nice room, but how old is the daughter? It's really, really adult, and kind of boring for a kid's room.
