Heads Up! Boxee Opens Up Public Beta

In the world of set top boxes, there are many, but few really stand up to the test of capturing the heart of consumers in the home entertainment space. We've had our reservations on putting in yet another set top box to our media cabinet, but in the case of Boxee's media center software, we might have to make an exception. We've had good experiences with Boxee in the past and it seems like (so far), they've gone and outdone themselves with this latest revision as they prepare to unleash their Boxee Box later this year.

After some time with the latest beta, we're fairly certain that Boxee is on its way to being one of the best media experiences we've ever had the opportunity to enjoy. You can pretty much run it on any machine that allows for an operating system - nearly all PCs, Macs, and Linux-based rigs we've tested seems to run it without ever having to crank up the internal cooling fan.

Download Boxee's latest beta and jump right into the thousands of hours of free entertainment through a slick interface and intuitive design. But keep in mind that this is still beta - though with the polish and shine we've seen, we'd be more than willing to shell out a few extra dollars to show our appreciation for good software done right.
